NASE Introduction

NASE (Network for Astronomy School Education) is a Working Group involved in the Functional Working Group “Key Initiatives in Education, Outreach and Development“ in division C of IAU (International Astronomical Union).

The main objective of NASE is to educate new generations of teachers and re-educate the current ones. We work with university professors in order to train future teachers and we cooperate with the departments of education in order to train experienced primary and secondary school teachers.

Participants will be between 40 and 50 teachers in primary and secondary education in the host country, distributed in two groups for the workshops of the face-to-face courses. In online courses there are no numerical restrictions.

Instructors will be members of NASE and teachers of the host country/city.

The greatest achievement of NASE is the formation of a Local Working Group (LWG) that follows the organization of courses and other activities, and that is autonomous in 2 or 3 years. Local instructors are part, immediately, of the NASE local group and are responsible for performing regular meetings to maintain the activities of the group.

The language of the course will be the official language in the host country.
